East coast bus passes May 2026: Greyhound WHIMit vs Premier MS update

The Greyhound WHIMit pass has gone up to ~$369 for the 30-day variant. Premier Motor Service's equivalent 1-month east-coast pass is now around $279 — making Premier the budget pick for backpackers doing the classic Sydney-Cairns loop.

The trade-off: Premier runs older buses, fewer onboard amenities (no WiFi on most services), longer journey times due to more stops. Greyhound runs the newer Volvo fleet, WiFi on most coaches, and slightly more direct routing.

Decision framework: - Tight budget, no rush, comfortable with older buses → Premier. - More flexibility on dates + faster transit + WiFi while moving → Greyhound. - Couple/group → Greyhound's hop-on-hop-off flexibility scales better when you're negotiating dates with others.
