Where to leave your luggage in Byron Bay (the Visitor Centre is closed)

The Byron Visitor Centre closed August 2025. Here's what to use instead.

By Byron Bay Backpackers editorial team

The Byron Visitor Centre at 80 Jonson Street closed in August 2025. For travellers between bus connections or with an evening departure but an early hotel check-out, this leaves a gap. The replacements:

- Bounce (bounce.com) — networked luggage storage at participating local businesses near Railway Park. From A$6.50/day per bag. Book online before arrival; takes 30 seconds. - Stasher (stasher.com) — same model, slightly cheaper at ~A$6.79/day, slightly fewer Byron drop-off points. - Nannybag — A$5.80/day per piece. Smallest network in Byron. - Most Byron hostels — will hold guest luggage for free on check-in or check-out day, but generally won't hold for non-guests. Worth a polite ask at the Backpackers Inn or YHA if you're between hostels.

For larger / longer storage (surf bags, suitcases for the WHV-leaving-town crowd), the IGA on Jonson sometimes accepts paid storage. Worth asking at the customer service desk.

If you're catching the Greyhound out and need to store between hotel checkout and departure, Bounce has a drop-off close to the bus interchange. Book the day before.
